UN Fact-Finding and the Goldstone Report

I am pleased to present my appeal for serious discussion of the Report of the Fact-Finding Mission on the Conflict in Gaza - often called the Goldstone Report after the name of the chairman of the fact-finding mission. The appeal was sent by email to all the government Missions to the United Nations in New York on 2 November. The debate on the Report is to start, if all goes as planned, on 4 November.

The appeal does not deal with the content of the Report but rather with the importance of fact… Continue

Women and Universal Responsibility

Women, Universal Responsibility and the Healing of Nations
Rene Wadlow*

We should begin to develop from the level of the individual through that of society to the world at large, what I call a sense of universal responsibility: a deep respect for every living being who lives on this one small planet and calls it home. The Dalai Lama

On 31 October 2002, the UN Security Council adopted unanimously Resolution 1325 urging “Member States to ensure increased representation of women at all decision-m… Continue

24 Oct. UN Day

The United Nations as One Mind
Rene Wadlow*

Those who observe world events may perceive something higher than human logic at work

Dag Hammarshjold has written that the United Nations was “the beginning of an organic process through which the diversity of peoples and their governments are struggling to find common ground upon which they can live together in the one world which has been thrust upon us before we were ready.”

Basically, the function of the UN is to create consensus (being of one… Continue

Nobel Peace Prize to President Obama

Obama’s Nobel : A Hope Not Yet An Achievement
Rene Wadlow*

Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population. Nobel Committee Statement

The five-person Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize Committee has chosen the US President Barack Obam… Continue

Welcome Rene,
Hope you feel at home soon, I do hope we can build bridges of understanding and empathy between UN and " just " the indiividual(s). As long as countries are just talking for themselves and even are not aware what is going on in the rest of the world, the gap of misunderstanding and indifference will only escalate. Proof of it is that the H1N1 vaccinations are pandemiccally forced upon nations worldwide.

Sometimes I am wondering, what the economical relationships are between the UN and all those manufacturers of tent camps:-(

Love Peace and Justice,

Farida
