This is a carefully planned humanitarian catastrophe. How can anybody in their right mind support the actions of the Israeli government.

Doctor Mads Gilbert is a member of a Norwegian triage medical team present in the besieged Gaza Strip. The team has exposed that Israel has used depleted uranium weapons in its war on the impoverished territory which is home to 1.5 million Palestinians. He described the conditions inside Gaza in an exclusive Press TV interview.

Press TV: What can you tell about the uranium findings?

Dr. Mads Gilbert:The findings about the uranium I cannot tell you much about, but I can tell you that we have clear evidence that the Israelis are using a new type of very high explosive weapons which are called Dense Inert Metal Explosive (DIME) and are made out of a tungsten alloy.

These weapons have an enormous power to explode.

The power of the explosion dissipates very quickly and the strength does not travel long, maybe 10 meters, but those humans who are hit by this explosion, this pressure wave are cut in pieces.

This was first used in Lebanon in 2006, it was used here in Gaza in 2006 and the injuries that we see in Shifa [Hospital] now, many many of them I suspect and we all suspect are the effect of DIME weapons used by the Israelis.

On the long term, these weapons will have a cancer effect on those who survive. They will develop cancer we suspect. There has been very little research on this but some research has been among other places in the United States, which show that these weapons have a high tendency to develop cancer. So they kill and those who survive risk having cancer.

Press TV: And what do you have to say about this?

Dr. Mads Gilbert: All that is happening in Gaza here now is against international law, it is against humanity and I think it is against what it means to be a decent person. You don't treat other people like this. Even if you disagree with him… maybe even if you fight with them, you don't treat civilians, children and women like this.

And I have an appeal to the Israeli doctors and nurses. They are my colleagues. We belong to the same international community, the medical community. I wish that the good doctors and nurses in Israel tell their government to stop these atrocities. We cannot continue with this. We may differ in opinions, but you cannot treat the civilian Palestinian population in Gaza in this way.

Today, they were bombing in Gaza City; we received 150 wounded and more than 50 killed.

Press TV: Only at Shifa?!

Dr. Mads Gilbert: Yes, here in Shifa. I treated a ten-year-old boy. He had his whole chest filled with fragments from the bomb. On his lap was another person's leg that had been cut off. We resuscitated him and did everything we could do to save his life but he died between our hands.

This is such a terrible experience and behind the numbers that you report all the time, there are human beings, families, women, grandmothers, children. That is in fact the reality in this situation. Those who are paying the price for the Israeli bombardments now are the common people, the Palestinian people.

Half of the population in Palestine are below 15 years and 80 percent of the people in Gaza live below the level of poverty defined by the UN. Now they don't have food, they don't have electricity. It's cold they don't have warmth and in addition to that, they are killed.

This must be stopped.

Nederland moet het initiatief nemen tot een VN-onderzoek naar oorlogsmisdaden in Gaza. Dat zegt Dries van Agt, nadat het Israëlische leger in vier dagen meer dan driehonderdvijftig Palestijnen heeft gedood, onder wie tientallen vrouwen, kinderen en bejaarden. Van Agt doet deze oproep nadat Aartsbisschop Desmond Tutu de noodklok heeft geluid. De Nobelprijswinnaar van de Vrede zei op 28 december over de Israëlische aanval: "The bombardment bears all the hallmarks of war crimes."
Van Agt: "Het is treurig dat onze regering in gebreke is gebleven het disproportioneel geweld dat Israël loslaat op Gaza te veroordelen. Staat er niet in de mensenrechtenstrategie van minister Verhagen dat mensenrechten altijd gelden en overal en voor iedereen? Voor iedereen? Blijkbaar niet voor de Palestijnen. Tegen de wurging van Gaza, een strook land zo groot als Texel waar anderhalf miljoen mensen bijeengepropt zitten in voedselnood, heeft de minister zich ook nooit uitgesproken!"
De minister wijt de dood en verderf zaaiende luchtaanvallen van Israël helemaal aan provocaties van Hamas. Verzwegen wordt dat het Israël was, zoals ook commentatoren van de Israëlische kwaliteitskrant Ha'aretz hebben geconstanteerd, dat begin november met een militaire operatie in Gaza het bestand heeft geschonden dat toen nog van kracht was. Bovendien laat de minister van Buitenlandse Zaken onvermeld dat Israël, in strijd met de bestandsafspraken, de wurgende blokkade van Gaza niet heeft versoepeld, laat staan opgeheven. Van Agt: "De vooraanstaande Israëlische mensenrechtenorganisatie B'Tselem noemt de Gazastrook ‘One Big Prison'. In die gevangenis was het leven al een hel voordat de bombardementen begonnen."
"Het staat niet ter discussie dat de Israëlische regering het recht heeft om haar burgers tegen Palestijnse raketten te beschermen", zegt Van Agt. "Maar de reactie op beschietingen dient volgens het humanitair oorlogsrecht proportioneel te zijn en onderscheid te maken tussen militaire en civiele doelen. Sinds 2004 zijn er door Palestijnse raketbeschietingen ongeveer twintig slachtoffers te betreuren. Die beschietingen zijn verfoeilijk. Maar hoe volslagen disproportioneel is het om op één dag, onder het mom van zelfverdediging, meer dan tien keer zoveel mensen te doden als in vier jaar door de raketbeschietingen zijn omgekomen?"
Een VN-onderzoek moet uitwijzen of er sprake is van oorlogsmisdaden. Van Agt: "Minister Verhagen dient zich voor een dergelijk onderzoek sterk te maken, ook omdat het bestrijden van internationale straffeloosheid tot de speerpunten van zijn mensenrechtenstrategie behoort. Mocht blijken dat oorlogsmisdaden zijn gepleegd, dan moeten de verantwoordelijken aansprakelijk worden gehouden", aldus Van Agt.
"Bovendien moet het nu afgelopen zijn met het vertroetelen van Israël door de EU", vindt Van Agt. "Het onlangs in de EU genomen besluit Israël nog meer voorrechten te verlenen en voordelen toe te schuiven dan dat land al heeft gekregen, behoort te worden ingetrokken. Het zou absurd zijn Israël nu nog meer presentjes aan te reiken. Met een staat die zich zo gedraagt kan er geen business as usual zijn

Oud-premier Van Agt: Ik word bedreigd

Ik wilde naar de site van van Agt en zag, dat deze sinds vannacht opgeheven is.
Het is toch wel erg. Wij leven werkelijk al in een onzichtbare dictatuur. Dit is de ergste vorm.

Oud-premier Dries van Agt wordt bedreigd naar aanleiding van zijn website waarop hij het opneemt voor de Palestijnen. "Ik word wel bedreigd. Ik wil daar geen dikke woorden over zeggen want het gebeurt niet vaak. Maar het gebeurt wel", zegt de CDA-coryfee vrijdagavond in actualiteitenprogramma Nova.

De christendemocraat zegt geen aangifte te doen. "Ik doe er niks mee. Ik ga door. Iemand moet dit zeggen." Hij voelt zich gesteund door het overgrote deel van de reacties op de site. Mensen zeiden volgens hem: "Ik durfde het eigenlijk niet te zeggen dat ik ook ernstige kritiek heb op het gedrag van de staat Israel. Maar ja, dat zeg je in Nederland zo moeilijk."

Van Agt bekritiseert op zijn website verder onder meer partijgenoot en minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Maxime Verhagen. Hij verwijt hem selectief over de Palestijnse zaak te spreken. "Hij weet toch dat de staat Israël de Palestijnen al meer dan veertig jaar als bezetter in een ijzeren greep houdt, in strijd met talloze VN-resoluties?"

In navolging van de Amerikaanse oud-president Jimmy Carter komt Van Agt binnenkort met een boek waarin hij het opneemt voor de Palestijnen. Ook Carter kreeg kritiek op zijn boodschap en de manier waarop hij die uitte. Van Agt ziet Carter als een groot voorbeeld.

Waarom treedt u in het krijt voor de Palestijnen?
Mijn pleidooi voor de Palestijnen komt uit twee beweegredenen voort. De ene is verontwaardiging over het voortgaande en mateloze onrecht dat de Palestijnen wordt aangedaan, al zestig jaar lang. De andere is verbijstering over de omvang en de diepte van de nood en het leed waardoor het Palestijnse volk als gevolg van dat onrecht wordt getroffen.

Zelden zijn de meningen over een politicus sterker verdeeld geweest dan over Dries Van Agt. Zijn aanhangers zagen in hem een slimme vertegenwoordiger van de zwijgende meerderheid, tegenpool van de bemoeizuchtige heren in Den Haag die alles voor de burger wilden regelen. Zijn tegenstanders ontwikkelden een grondige haat tegen zijn pose van kruisridder voor het fatsoen.

Van Agt wil onderzoek 'oorlogsmisdaden Gaza'

Oud CDA-premier Dries van Agt vindt dat de VN onderzoek moet doen naar 'Israelische oorlogsmisdaden' in de Gazastrook.

Van Agt doet een klemmende oproep aan zijn partijgenoot Maxime Verhagen (CDA). Van Agt, die het tegenwoordig opneemt voor de Palestijnen tegen De Telegraaf: „Mocht blijken dat oorlogsmisdaden zijn gepleegd, dan moeten de verantwoordelijken aansprakelijk worden gehouden.”
Nobelprijswinnaar aartsbisschop Desmond Tutu zei eerder dat de Israëlische bombardementen op de Gazastrook ’disproportioneel zijn en het stempel dragen van oorlogsmisdaden’.

I always investigate that what I am placing here. I wish I could post something more peaceful, but as long as this madness is allowed to go on and our worldleaders are cowards, madmen and demons, I have to go on. I wanted to know what this weapon is, that Israel is using against the people in Gaza. I found that what dr. Mads gilbert was telling, ButI was shocked, when I read that from 2006 DIME was used in the Gaza strip and that it was not a secret. In whatkind of beastful world are we living? I am very sorry for some people, that I am not able to contribute with peaceful-scratchbook-like images etc. First we have to make this worldwide known:

Dense Inert Metal Explosive (DIME)

In mid-October 2006 a team of investigative journalists at RAI Italian television reported that Israel had been using a new weapon in the Gaza Strip, similar to DIME – dense inert metal explosive. The report was produced by the same journalists who claimed without foundation that the US used White Phosphorus (WP) against civilians during attacks on Fallujah. According to the Israeli daily Haaretz, the weapon was launched from drones in the summer of 2006, most of them in July, and led to "abnormally serious" physical injuries. Physicians in the Gaza Strip noted the pattern of wounds they were treating were unusual, with severed legs that showed signs of severe heat at the point of amputation but no metal shrapnel. The American version is still in a testing stage and had not been used on the battlefield at that time. It has not been "declared an illegal weapon", though the weapon was claimed [without described basis] to be "highly carcinogenic and harmful to the environment".

Then I read in CBSNews:

Of the 688 Palestinians killed since Dec. 27, some 350 were civilians, among them 130 children, according to Palestinian officials.

Total different from that what our doctor is telling. If from 2006 DIME already is used, I am wondering how many two-legged/two armed Palestinians are militant at this moment. And I suppose that Hamas does not have the luxury to make Cyborgs of the people from Gaza.
